Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing ( FHTM ) -- Representative Friendly Company for Network Marketers
Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing ( FHTM )
is my choice for the quintessential network marketing company. I'm Don Servais, a Regional Sales Manager with FHTM. I work this business in my spare time mostly on the telephone or on the computer. When I was looking for an opportunity, I sorted through a lot of different businesses and found nothing but hype. A friend of mine told me about Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing (FHTM) and I did some research on it. I saw the excitement of the opportunity, but no wild claims of making thousands of dollars in 48 hours. I considered that a good start.

I'm on the left -- Paul Orberson is on the right.
I also read about the owner of FHTM, Paul Orberson, and was impressed with his background. He was a successful representative with Excel Communications, which was a billion dollar network marketing company during the 1990's. Paul knew how tough representatives had it because he struggled for several years with Excel. He eventually earned millions of dollars and retired for a couple of years. He came out of retirement to start FHTM in January, 2001. His mission was to help the ordinary person achieve financial freedom for themselves and their family. When I saw Paul Orberson in a video presentation, I thought he was more down to earth than other business owners I've seen. I joined Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing shortly after that and have not regretted that decision. I feel Paul Orberson has put together the most representative friendly company in the industry.
Recognition in Noted Publications
The success of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing has been documented in many well-known publications. FHTM was the cover story for MILLIONAIRE magazine in the January/February 2007 issue. Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing was again on the cover for the August 2007 issue of SUCCESS FROM HOME magazine and YOUR BUSINESS AT HOME magazine in October 2008. In the April 2009 edition of directsellingnews.com, FHTM was featured in an article titled Reaching New Heights.
SUCCESS FROM HOME magazine did another cover story on Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing in the October 2009 issue. Pictured are the top money earners and ring of honor members in the company.
Dun and Bradstreet, a well-renowned provider of credit information on businesses and corporations, give FHTM the highest rating of 3A1.
In August 2009, FHTM was accepted by the Direct Selling Association (DSA) and was ranked #39 in the United States and #57 worldwide.
In the early days of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, Fox News did an infomercial for their Champions of Industry program that was hosted by Pat Summerall in 2002. The company was only a year old at the time and had only a handful of products to offer.

Paul Orberson wrote a book about his company and how he got there. It's titled Something Good's Gonna Happen (2007) with David and Randy Mills. He talked candidly about his struggle as a representative in the network marketing industry. He nearly quit the Excel Communications business several times during the first two years because he was not making enough money to support his family. His believe in himself, the company, and the industry kept him moving forward and his determination eventually paid off. He became one of the most successful network marketers in history when he earned $38 million over the next six years with Excel.
Here are some of the other Representative Friendly reasons to join Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing
The products and services are items people use everyday. They include communication services like cell phones, satellite TV, home and digital telephone service from well-known companies. They also have home security, identity theft insurance, and health and wellness products. FHTM continues to add more products every year.
The biggest difference with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing and other businesses I was with was the marketing of tier one products as opposed to a brand of their own. You have your choice of carriers for the wireless product. Verizon, T-Mobile, Alltel, Nextel and Sprint are much easier to sell than say FHTM Wireless. Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing emphasizes they are a marketing company and will follow the trends of the growing public. They would rather have contracts with these well-known companies instead of spending millions of dollars to build a wireless company of their own. That's more money that goes toward the representative. FHTM can add and drop carriers as they go along.
Plus, you can renew a contract with a carrier and earn a customer point. That is one of the most representative friendly reasons to be with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing.
Here is something else to think about.
Why would tier one companies want to do business with a network marketing company? Wouldn’t that hurt their reputation?
These are good questions. A company like Dish Network would NOT do business with a company they haven’t thoroughly checked out first.
The big appeal for tier one companies to do business with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing is that they get a lot of customers dumped in their lap. These are easy sales for them and they have a better track record of staying with the carrier for a long period of time. FHTM only had one cell phone carrier for several years. The other major carriers kept calling Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing requesting they be included in their lineup. That expansion did happen and representatives were delighted with it. It made selling the wireless product much easier.
Here are 5 more representative friendly reasons to join Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing.
1. You don't need to be a trainer/coach to be promoted. This is a requirement that many companies will force on their representatives. I found it to be one of the main reasons why people didn't get promoted sooner in their business. Ultimately, many quit because they didn't get promoted. FHTM had it for a while and decided to drop it. When they did, it made a huge difference for representatives. You can make more money as a trainer/coach, but it's not a requirement.
2. Once you are promoted, there is no way you can be demoted to the previous level, even if everyone in your downline quits the business. This was a sore spot of mine when I was with other companies. My downlines would get jumbled up when people would quit, usually in frustration. This FHTM policy is also responsible for people staying longer with the business than they would have with other companies.
3. 30 pay raises for representatives over the first 8 years in business. I was at a Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing convention in Texas in 2009 and I heard several speakers talk about this. This company is very generous in their payouts. There are a lot of bonus incentives for new people when they start with FHTM.
4. FHTM will not be ruled by shareholders. There are pluses and minuses by being a member of the New York Stock Exchange. On the plus side, it's great for credibility. A company has to be thoroughly investigated by several government agencies before they can go public with NYSE. That is a great selling point about how solid and legitimate a network marketing company is.
However, here is the drawback. The shareholders make the major decisions and many times that means giving less money to the representatives. Paul Orberson had experience with this and is adamant against shareholders. There have been a few network marketing companies that have bought back their shares to become private again.
5. FHTM is debt-free. Many companies are loaded with debt and it prevents them from giving back to the representative.
Here are some things I don’t do anymore in network marketing.
- I don’t schedule parties, pass out order forms, and beg people to buy my product. With FHTM, I was able to get a few people together to sign up for some communication services. These are services that they would normally get with somebody else. Instead of getting a cell phone at a brick and mortar store, they got one through me. Or, they renewed their current contract through me.
The goal for each new representative is to get 10 customer points (each product and service is worth one or two points) as soon as possible. One person can have several services and they all count as separate points. You don't do any billing. The tier one company does that.
Once you have at least 10 customer points in place with their recurring monthly bills, you can focus on showing the business to other people to add business partners. If they don't want to be a representative, you can ask them to be a customer. You can have as many personal customer points as you want, but six have to be outside the household.
- I don’t use paper forms to sign up customers and representatives. Both of those functions can be done online through Office Assistant.
- I don’t have any inventory to show products. Everyone knows what a cell phone looks like.
- I don’t do any billing or collections. Once you have a customer, the tier one companies will pay FHTM and gladly do the billing. FHTM will pay you by check or direct deposit.
- I don’t pickup or deliver any products. Again, the tier one companies will gladly take care of that.
To me, these were all representative friendly reasons to be with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing.
There are several other products that motivate people get involved with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing. One of them is the
Rewards Mall
. There are a lot of great deals on this site that will save a lot of money on everyday products. The entire
True Essentials
line was added to the Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing lineup shortly after Paul Orberson recovered from cancer. These are the health and wellness products that include Joint Solutions for people with chronic arthritic pain and CoQ10 which helps fight diseases like cancer in your immune system. Other products in this line include vitamins for the family, appetite control and a product for the hair, skin and nails.
In November 2011, FHTM expanded its product base by rolling out a natural gas and electric product for consumers. Thanks to deregulation, this service is now available in a handful of states with more to come in the future.
If you would like more information about Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, please leave me a message in the box below. This is the only network marketing business that I actually had fun doing. However, just like any business, you do have to work at it. It will not grow by osmosis. Once you get momentum, you're business can grow to the point of financial freedom.
