Paul Orberson Knows What Reps Want
Paul Orberson
is the founder and owner of
Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing (FHTM)
. He was a successful network marketer for Excel Communications during the 1990's. He made $38 million with that company and actually retired by his early forties. After several years of retirement, he decided to start his own company that markets tier one products. Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing has been in business since January, 2001 and is one of the leading network marketing companies in the country.
Paul Orberson's main mission is to give back much of the success that he's been blessed with over the years. He was a high school teacher and coach when he became a representative of Excel Communications. Excel was a reseller of long distance services that really took off into a billion dollar company. He was not an overnight success. He struggled for two years to make a living off of it before his business exploded. In his 2007 book, "Something Good's Gonna Happen," Paul talked about some of the low points during his struggle. One story out of the book that I found amazing was a short piece written by Tommy Mills at the end. He said he and Paul got 25 people to fill out customer forms to have their long distance telephone service switched to Excel. When they submitted them to the company, all were rejected because the town they lived in didn't allow residents to choose long distance carriers.
I was with Excel and I knew how tough it was to get customers. It took some time to convince these people to change carriers, fill out the paperwork, then send it by mail to the company. When I read that, I thought how devastated I would have been had that happened to me. I probably wouldn't have continued on. Paul Orberson and Tommy Mills decided not to quit and later both were very successful with Excel.
Another item he talked about was his battle with cancer in 2003. Paul was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer that spread through the lymph nodes. He was not expected to live. Later that year, he defied all odds and made a full recovery.
That experience lead Paul to a new passion. He wanted to educate us about the habits we have and the foods we eat that may actually be killing us. The True Essentials product line was added to Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing to compliment the telecommunications services they already offered.
Paul leaves messages with representatives every week about the state of the company. Some are motivational, but many others will give us important information on what to put in our bodies -- and what to avoid. One product he talks about often is CoQ10, which is a supplement that adds oxygen to every cell in the human body. Since the brain and the heart need the most oxygen, CoQ10 can help reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
"Something Good's Gonna Happen" is an awe inspiring book filled with quotes from great leaders and beliefs from his
business and his faith.
Why FHTM is so Representative Friendly
Paul Orberson is a very visible owner of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing. One thing I really liked about FHTM after I joined was how active he was for his representatives every week. Not only does he travel around the country, he leaves motivational
messages at least twice a week on FortuneTV.info and our voice messaging service MyTelTag. The other network marketing companies I was with, I never saw or heard from the owners. I only knew their names and saw a picture that was several years
old.
Every week, Paul will tell us who the leaders of the month are in FHTM. Often times, he'll have an interview with successful people in the company, like a representative who just won a Lexus autmobile through an FHTM promotion. Plus, Paul is one of the best at giving us motivational words to inspire us. He has a lot of quotes, but here are four of my favorites:
"Nothing is more powerful than a made-up mind."
"The longer you do nothing, the harder it is to do something."
“People who do the most things they don’t want to do in our business and in life are the most successful in life."
"If you meet with rejection, it’s a test of your metal. At some point, you will have to pass that test. Whether it’s now
or 30 years from now."
Paul Orberson will update us on how much the company is growing. In November, 2008, Paul told us the company had grown 71% from the previous 12 months. In March, 2009, that growth expanded to 106% from the previous year. That's incredible growth, especially since the country was in a deep recession during that time.
The network marketing industry usually thrives when the economy is in a downward slide. People are looking for ways to work for themselves, and network marketing is one of the best ways to do that with low start-up costs.
One thing I disliked about other network marketing companies was the constant hype you would hear about the business. It's
one thing to be passionate about your business opportunity and love what it has to offer. It's another to force enthusiasm to the point where most people think that it's just an act.
With Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing, Paul Orberson brings the company down to earth with messages of substance. He has told us many times that he does not want representatives to talk about their personal incomes or make unrealistic claims of getting rich quick.
The main reason I got involved with Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing is because I liked Paul Orberson's story and felt comfortable
that he would compensate me for my hard work. So far, I have no complaints.
